Brief description of the project: Nepal Paper Craft Private Limited is cooperating with GIZ and G.U.B. Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, Zwickau, Germany to have a cheap and effective technology on biological basis to clean the sewage from dyeing industries for Nepal. Further aim is that knowledge about environmental friendly and cheap wastewater treatment and its handling should be made generally known among Nepali enterprises, enterprises’ associations and public institutions.
In order to anchor the necessary knowledge in Nepal, this measure focuses on a comprehensive programme in training and sensitization of different target groups. Practical training is most important and will go with theoretical instructions. Strategic partners to spread the experiences and the knowledge are the Nepal Handmade Paper Association (HANDPASS), the Nepal Engineers’ Association and Tribhuwan University in Kathmandu. All these three institutions will be sending qualified members to the training, who will be then trainers themselves, so that they can spread the learned knowledge. Concepts and training material will be developed and given to the partners. The practical training will be realized on the basis of a small sewage-treatment plant for biological-mechanical wastewater treatment (a demonstration and training plant). At the end of the measure, different small sewage-treatment plants (modular system) which are up to the standard of dyeing processes can be built locally in Nepal.
Duration of the PPP: The project began on 15 December 2006 and is scheduled to continue till the end of June 2010.
