National level Public Private Dialogue (PPD) and policies:
- Support dialogue with regulatory bodies and government - to make regulations more conducive for enterprise and business sector development.
- Support PPD processes at national level.
- Support awareness raising activities on responsible business practices.
District level PPD:
- Support the organisation of dialogue programmes at district level on socio-economic topics between stakeholders from public, private and civil society sectors.
- Support the identification of business environment issues.
- Capacity building of public, private and civil society partners for conflict management and peace building, and PPD.
- Support private sector initiatives by encouraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and other responsible business practices to support the peace building process.
- Support awareness raising activities through media.
LRED processes:
Definition: “LRED is a process to mobilise stakeholders from the public and private sectors as well as from civil society, to become partners in a joint effort to improve the economy of a defined sub-national territory and thus increase its competitiveness.”
- Support the vision building of the programme districts.
- Capacitate LRED stakeholders (BMOs, NGOs, local government, cooperatives to develop LRED strategies).
- Support BMOs in developing their vision, mission and plan of action incorporating the LRED strategies.
- Support awareness raising activities through media.
Strengthening district private sector and public institutions, and civil society:
- Capacitate LRED stakeholders (BMOs, NGOs, local government, cooperatives), among others in the fields of planning and management, LRED; CSR and PPD.
Value chain development and projects:
- Promote selected sub-sectors which are relevant for the selected locations and have potential to enhance income and employment for socially excluded/disadvantaged groups by providing support in the areas of production, processing and marketing.
- Support the documentation and dissemination of good practices.
- Providing technical support for value addition and product diversification.
- Support projects particularly creating employment and income generation for disadvantaged groups.
Business services:
- Support the set up of ‘One Stop Shops’ (OSSs) at local Chambers of Commerce and Industry that provide information to assist in investment decision-making, support in start-up and post start-up processes.
- Support the set up of service/promotion centres for selected sub-sectors and for cooperatives.
Entrepreneurship development:
Financial services:
- Cooperate with and capacitate local financial institutions (development banks) in designing and implementing additional/few financial products catered for the need of INCLUDE’s target group vis-à-vis the value chain/LRED interventions. This includes working with and capacitating cooperatives in order to improve refinancing mechanisms along the value chain interventions.
- Work with local level financial institutions as part of INCLUDE’s cooperation with FNCCI in implementing the Youth and Small Enterprise Self-Employment Fund (YSESEF) Programme to provide loans for successful participants of BUS/CEFE trainings.
- Work with national level banks (e.g. Bank of Kathmandu) and its branches in the districts in developing policy guidelines and/or inputs into new products based on the experience in the districts.
- Link new and existing small entrepreneurs or cooperatives with microfinance institutions or banks.
